OCEANSIDE, CA – The Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro kicked off the competition at the Oceanside Pier on Saturday. Oceanside Patch collaborating photographer Dyanne Klinko was on hand to catch the action at the biggest women’s surfing event and music festival.

The nationally televised event is celebrating its 16th year at the Oceanside Pier from September 16-18, with over 90 of the world’s top pros scheduled to compete. Some of the biggest names in women’s surfing are expected, including surfing icon Bethany Hamilton and former Supergirl champions Carissa Moore, Caroline Marks, Lakey Peterson, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Coco Ho, Sage Erickson, Courtney Conlogue, Caitlin Simmers (Oceanside), Alyssa Spencer (Carlsbad) and Samantha Sibley (San Clemente).

Super Girl Surf Pro event features Festival Village with live concerts and family activities; the annual Super Girl Gamer esports tournament; an all-female DJ competition; a women’s beach soccer tournament; free fitness, yoga, Zumba, Pilates, wellness and dance classes; female actors; famous speakers; roundtables promoting female leadership and sustainability; an exhibition of women’s art; social influencers; autograph signings; a beer garden and food court; a military appreciation program; and a mentorship event for young surfers with five-time world champion Carissa Moore and her Moore Aloha Foundation.
