LA County Fair: It’s the last hurray for Pomona-tacular, who’s gone “Back to Our Roots” at its very first event in May. There’s still time to celebrate the fair’s centennial and soak up sweet petting animals, that Cherry Kool-Aid chicken sandwich (and all the weird and wacky treats), quilty-cool contests, live music, from the famous Flower & Garden Pavilion, and those hot midway nights. The last day is Monday May 30th and going through the doors? Everything is now a cashless system, including parking, then study better before messaging your ferris wheel-obsessed best friend.

LA Fleet Week: Like the Los Angeles County Centennial Fair, the tradition of honoring our country’s maritime services has been held for many years toward the end of summer. And like the fair, LA Fleet Week just passed in May, with four days of celebrations ahead, events that include tours, concerts, ceremonies and more. Performances by the First Marine Division Band are among the highlights of the celebration, as are chances to board USS Essex and USS Portland. Remembrance Day : We remember the members of the Armed Forces who spent this Memorial Day with several moving virtual tributes, ceremonies and events, including a few that will take place before Monday, May 30. A line ceremony on the Forest Lawn, a large display of flags at Forest Lawn in Glendale, a service at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, a patriotic light show at the Pacific Wheel in Santa Monica and the moving flower drop at the Palm Springs Air Museum are just a few of the events for 2022. Be sure to check the date and time of the event you wish to attend, and whether it is an in-person or virtual offering. .

Hermosa Party: After a pandemic-related hiatus, this breezy, beach-adjacent event, taking place downtown Hermosa Beach, is back to celebrate his 51st birthday. It’s so big it’s taking place over three days – May 28-30 – and includes a carnival, which will be significantly bigger than in the past (it’s also been moved, to make room for more rides) . A beach concert, beer garden, and stalls brimming with arts, crafts, food, sips, and everything in between will line the streets. Where to go? It’s all about rocking/drinking/munching/admiring art/seeing friends between Pacific Coast Highway and the sand.

The power of women in country music: Dolly, Loretta, Shania, Taylor, LeAnn and so many incredible icons have created countless country hits, singable backing vocals and ultra-memorable stage performances. Now the Grammy Museum is taking several star-studded months to celebrate these country music powerhouses, through their words, their lyrics, artifacts on the road, fantastic photographs, beautiful instruments and legendary costumes, the stylish concert clothes that influence the fashion world at large. The expansive and in-depth exhibit runs at music institution LA Live from May 27 through October 2, 2022.

Topanga Days National Fair: Flying away to a sylvan expanse, filled with ancient oaks, steep hills and nostalgic pleasures galore? One can feel like stepping into a mythical land while savoring the legendary gifts of Topanga. That smile two day event, which blooms May 29 and 30, will feature many of those nostalgic touchstones, with a host of dancing groups, a colorful parade and games galore (think egg toss, sack races, basketball- water balloon ball, and more). A one-day adult pass is $20, but there are other ticketing options, including two-day passes. The beneficiary ? This is the community center of Topanga.
