Parksville Beach Festival

One of Vancouver Island’s favorite events of the year is back.

After a two-year hiatus, the Parksville Beach Festival Society is set to bring back its famous international sandcastle competition for 2022.

In November 2021, organizers confirmed they were planning the return of its popular summer events and now they promise it will be better than ever.

Before COVID, the event drew over 100,000 people over a five-week period. This year’s event will take place from July 15 to August 21.

In addition to sandcastles, the Parksville Beach Festival also includes an artisan market, light show, and summer concert series.

The list of events includes:

• Competition and exhibition of master sand sculptors
• Sand sculpting demonstrations
• Weekend concerts
• daily buskers
• Craft market
• special illumination of the sculptures on weekends
• Quality Foods Festival of Lights fireworks
• Quality Foods Children’s Sand Sculpting Contest

For two nights only, August 19 and 20, the sand sculpture exhibit will be open after dark. This event allows you to experience the sculptures in a unique and wonderfully different way. Doors are open until 11:00 p.m. both nights

To date, the Parksville Beach Festival has donated just over $900,000 to community groups and projects. More recently, the company said it had contributed funds to improve the accessibility and construction of the outdoor performance theater.
