Locals discuss if they’re ready for Valentine’s Day

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) — If you’re scrambling to find something special for your loved one on Valentine’s Day, you’re not alone.

A recent RetailMeNot survey reported that one in 10 Americans wait until the very last minute to buy something special for their Valentine’s Day.

So if you want to order that bouquet of roses or a nice box of chocolates, you might want to hurry.

However, a Panama City Beach resident is making sure his special someone won’t be disappointed on Monday.

“I gave my wife a dozen gorgeous roses and a few other things that I can’t talk about right now, but she’s very happy,” buyer James White said. “I’ve got the groceries for the game, so we’re all set to go.”

White said Valentine’s Day was a special time of year for him since he grew roses himself.

“I buy specific things because I used to grow roses and know good roses,” White said.

He said it was a tradition to give flowers to his wife every year for her birthday and Valentine’s Day.

Other buyers were also ready to celebrate this special day in style.

“I’m super prepared,” said Quinisha Smith. “We are crazy about football, so football will be our love for Valentine’s Day and just a home-cooked dinner, wine, just an ordinary football Sunday.”

Make sure you have other ideas in mind in case your grocery store or local flower shop runs out of roses.
