Leonard D. Brown

Leonard D. Brown, 68, of Mt. Jewett, went to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 7, 2022, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was born November 3, 1953 to Warren, son of the late Archie and Dorothy (Wagner) Brown. On April 19, 1975 in Warren County, he married Debora C. Vicini who survives.

Leonard graduated from Warren Area High School in 1971. He grew up in Warren until he and his wife moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where they lived for five years. They returned in 1978 to live in Mt. Jewett, when he was employed by National Fuel Gas. He spent the next 43 years working on pipelines stretching through Pennaylvania and New York. During his career, he made several close friends and acquaintances.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, hiking, canoeing, snowshoeing, reading and spending time at his family’s camp. He was a huge fan of Penn State Football.

Leonard was a cubmaster and assistant scoutmaster for several years and loved camping activities. He also helped his two sons win Eagle Scout awards. They also attended the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico for two weeks in 1994.

Leonard also enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughter gardening, canoeing, fishing, doing projects and snowshoeing. He was instrumental in establishing the Pee Wee baseball league in Mt. Jewett and coached his three children. He was a member of the Mt. Jewett Sportsman Club, Sheffield Rod and Gun Club, Eagles, Sheffield Veterans of Foreign Wars and Mt. Jewett Sons of the American Legion.

In addition to his wife Debora, he is survived by one son, Jared Brown of Kane; one daughter, Elisha Brown of Mt. Jewett; two brothers: Charles Brown of Bellows Fall, Vermont, and Dennis (Jane) Brown of Penn Furnace; two sisters: Arleigh F. Reynolds of Alma, NY, and Christine (Tom) Raleigh of Warren; one brother-in-law, Donald (Charnae) Vicini II; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents, Archie Sr. (Gertrude) Brown; one uncle, Richard (Mayvis) Curtin; her in-laws, Don and Doris Vicini; a beloved son, Dustin B. Brown, who died of a concussion; one brother-in-law, Mike Reynolds; several aunts and uncles; and his best friend, Dale F. Carrow.

Friends and family will be received from 5 to 7 p.m., April 21, 2022, at Cummings Funeral Home Inc. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Memorial donations can be made to the 410 Boy Scout Troop of Mt. Jewett or the Leonard Brown Memorial Fund at any branch of CNB Bank or Erie Bank.
