Join Kitty Hawk Kites and celebrate the 50th Annual Spectacular Hang Gliding Competition. “The Spec” is the world’s oldest hang gliding competition and is free to the public with competitions and fun activities throughout the day.

The 50th Annual Hang Gliding Show will be held May 19-22, 2022. Be sure to book your accommodation now to join professional hang-gliding pilots, fans and families for aerial games and festivities in the Outer Banks!

The aerotow competition will be held at Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg and the dunes competition will be held at Jockey’s Ridge State Park during this special Outer Banks tradition.

In addition to the hang gliding competition, the 50th annual hang gliding show will include: a vintage glider exhibit and a fly-in; a historic display of films, photos and t-shirts; a film festival; the Woody Jones street dance; and more.
