Ida T. (Fiume) Steller died Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. She was 90 and lived for many years in Saint Martin of Tours Parish in Oxford Circle before moving to Saint Katherine of Siena Parish in Torresdale to be closer to her family.
Ida was born in Philadelphia in 1931 to Mary and Vito Fiume. She grew up near the 12th and Girard where her parents had a millinery where she spent most of her days. Ida graduated from Hallahan High School in 1949, married her husband Carl in 1953 and had 2 children whom they raised in the parish of Saint-Martin de Tours. Ida worked at Frankford Arsenal for 25 years. Once retired, she joined her husband at their lunch, Carl-Tones in Lawndale. They have served many families and made lifelong friends for 39 years.
Ida’s family was everything to her. They spent many summers on the beach in Wildwood while vacationing at Pan American. Ida enjoyed spending time together having big family meals, talking about Eagles football, solving puzzles, baking cookies and playing rummy games with the grandkids. For the past few years, she’s been thrilled to become a great-grandmother, and has been lovingly spoiling them (and dessert!) at every chance she got.
Christmas was Ida’s favorite time of year and it was not uncommon to see her drummer boy collection on display all year round. In her free time, she enjoyed the casino, shopping at Boscov’s, dining at the restaurant car and sipping her favorite drink, a Christian Brothers Stinger, standing upright, rocks to the side – fancy glass only!
Ida was the beloved wife of the late Carl C. Steller and the beloved mother of Linda Chorneiko and her husband Michael and the late Carl C. Steller, Jr. She cherished her grandchildren Andre Natale and his wife Stephanie , Maria Ejdaharian and her husband Chris , Michael Chornieko, Jr. and his wife Allie and the late Carl C. Steller, III. She adored her great-grandchildren, Violet and Gia Natale and Christopher Ejdaharian, Jr. Ida is also survived by her beloved sister Mary G. Engelhorn. She was unfortunately predeceased by her parents, husband, son, grandson and brother Anthony Fiume.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Saint Martin de Tours Church, 5450 Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19124. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with subsequent interment in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
