The Duchess of Cambridge has the kind of complexion that suggests she’s never been sunburned in her life – and that might just be true, as she has a slew of tricks up her sleeve to protect herself from the sun.

As someone who often has to be in formal wear in sunnier climes (think Caribbean touring), Duchess Kate needs to think of little ways to shield herself from the heat. From beanies to hydration, here are the tips of Prince William woman always follows.

1. Wear a hat in the sun

The mum-of-three regularly wears gorgeous hats at public engagements, but those fashion statements are a far cry from her heat protection hats.

However, she is not always fond of stylish hats. Prince William’s wife often opts for a cap to protect herself from the heat – function sometimes wins out!

2. Wear sunglasses

Duchess Kate pulls off rockstar chic with aplomb, regularly wearing a chic pair of sunglasses to shield her eyes from harmful rays. She switch between classic Ray-Ban sunglasses to glam, great specs, depending on the occasion.

3. Use a UV umbrella

The Duchess of Cambridge was spotted using a UV umbrella in Singapore in 2012, shielding her from the strong sun.

4. Stay hydrated

Everyone knows it’s essential to stay hydrated during a heatwave, and Duchess is never without water to hand when the sun is shining. She was even spotted cheering Prince Louis drink during the Platinum Jubilee.

5. Use SPF skin care

Duchess Kate would like Laura Mercier Skin Perfecting Tinted Moisturizer, which contains SPF30. SPF treatments are usually not enough to protect the skin (you should use a teaspoon of SPF to cover your face, and that would do a lot of foundation!) but it’s a good start.
