FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida. – The city of Fort Lauderdale knows how to throw a good party, and this 4th of July was no different.

The fireworks ended around 9 p.m., but people stayed for hours after to enjoy the holiday.

All in all it was a great Independence Day as tourists and residents filled the beach for a day of fun activities.

“All the festivities are happening, seeing all the beautiful people and celebrating the holidays, and the concerts, the music for sure,” Regina Schenck said.

There was something on the beach for everyone, including the kids, many of whom enjoyed the waterslides, while DJs played the hits.

It was then time for the B-52s to take control of the main stage.

As the crowd celebrated, many police officers were on the scene.

Fort Lauderdale Police Department officials said this year, as in previous years, they have increased their staff and safety is of paramount importance.

Police said no arrests were made from the beach when last checked on Monday evening. On the side of the fire brigade, there were at least four transports from the beach due to intoxication and dehydration.
