Dubai has announced a series of events to celebrate the UAE’s Golden Jubilee.
Hosted by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, a number of concerts, fireworks, retail events and pop-ups will take place across the emirate.
The celebrations will take place from December 2 to 11, and will take place at several locations across the city. Here are some events to watch out for:
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is hosting a number of fireworks displays on National Day weekend. Residents and visitors can head to The Pointe and Atlantis, The Palm, Bluewaters Island, Etisalat Beach Canteen in Jumeirah Beach behind Sunset Mall, La Mer and Burj Al Arab to view exhibits at 8 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on 2 and 3 December. marking a momentous moment in the history of the United Arab Emirates.
Taking place in Burj Park, a two-day concert featuring some of the area’s biggest stars will celebrate the National Day. On December 2, singers Hussain Al Jassmi, Diana Haddad and Dalia Mubarak will all take the stage to perform their hits. December 3 will be the turn of Eidha Menhali, best known for her hit Motassoa, and Shamma Hamdan, the first Emirati woman to qualify for the final of Arabs have talent. The paid event is organized by the Tourism and Trade Marketing Department, Emaar and the MBC Group.
A number of malls across town will be offering huge discounts to mark National Day celebrations. Majid Al Futtaim, Dubai Festival City Mall, The Dubai Mall and Dubai Outlet Mall will offer savings of 50-70% on select items through December 13.
Mall of the Emirates will host an exhibition called Draped in Heritage, which will showcase clothing from the country’s past and look to the future. The showcase will feature seven outfits, each accompanied by audio-visuals of sheikhas and other women from the United Arab Emirates.
In downtown Mirdiff there will be the Rooted in the Future Outdoor Market, which will feature 50 stalls supporting local and emerging designers showcasing their work. There will also be performances, art exhibitions and a unique auto show, which will feature more than 250 vehicles owned by Emirati enthusiasts.
At City Center Deira, the oldest shopping mall in Majid Al Futtaim, there will be a historic activation titled Heart of Deira, which will showcase the authentic side of one of Dubai’s oldest neighborhoods.
