This Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lifeguard Station 2 Ocean Front North, Jacksonville Beach, 72 people will take to the water and leave their physical disabilities behind as they ride the waves, some for the first time.

Brooks Rehabilitation Adapted Sports and Recreation offers athletes of all ages and abilities the opportunity to participate in sports they never thought possible. This is the 14th year they have hosted the surf event at Jacksonville Beach.

To keep them safe, Brooks Rehabilitation recruits a team of over 250 volunteers to help them on land and in the water.

Brooks ASR offers weekly activities and special events for people who have suffered a spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury or other debilitating illness and/or injury. All ages and abilities are welcome to participate in all sporting activities. Participants can compete at the recreational or competitive level in each of our individual and team activities. Most activities do not require a participation fee and include specialized equipment and instruction.
